FAQ’s

I notice on a lot of your blog entries you like to talk about love in a spiritual context and that makes me a little nervous.  Have you thrown out your doctrinal beliefs?

Not at all!  But when I used to talk in matters spiritual, I looked at it as if doctrine was the cake, and love was the icing.  Now, I’m beginning to realize that Love (God’s Agape love) IS the cake.  All of the other stuff falls in place if I can keep Him and His Love for me and others where it should be.  Jesus Himself said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”  Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV)

So what do you mean by the title “Worship Lessons?”  Isn’t that a bit arrogant?

Not at all, if you realize that I am the one getting the lessons, not giving them.  I have spent a lot of my life in a church “performance mode” and have only recently begun to know what it means to truly worship the Lord from a pure heart.  Or at least a heart that is becoming more pure.  As I learn these lessons, I blog them.  Some lessons are family oriented, some at work.  Some are learned in church, some are learned at home.  You can find out more of what I mean by reading about me.

I heard that you and your wife enjoy dabbling in genealogy.

That’s not even a question.  But I’ll respond to it anyway.  Yes, we do.  Some of the surnames I’ve found in my ancestry are:  Maternal; Swartz/Schwartz, Seltzer, Rohrer, Green, Swinehart, Hamsher.  Paternal; Stanley, Martin, Nunnery, Moore, McClelland, and Holliday (yes, as in Doc Holliday.  I haven’t found him in the line yet, but I do share a couple of similarities with him.  I have a temper and a handgun ;-) ).

Blessings!
